Xilinx and BEEcube launch the world's first mmwave prototyping platform solution
Xilinx and BEEcube announced the launch of the world's first millimeter Wave (mmWave) prototyping platform solution to support innovative development of 5G applications. Xylinx's new 256QAM 500MHz mmWave modem IP, combined with the BEEcube BEE7 baseband platform, provides a complete out-of-the-box solution to meet the needs of the 60GHz backrange market, enabling designers to immediately launch innovative mmWave designs.
Dr. Bob Brodersen, Chairman of BEEcube and co-founder of the Berkeley Wireless Research Center, said: "5G can increase cellular network capacity by thousands of times, and the use of mmWave frequencies will be critical to meeting this growth in demand. Existing mmWave frequency prototyping tools are very limited and do not integrate well. With no competing products in this frequency range, the launch of this mmWave prototyping solution will fill this gap and help companies race to prototype 5G systems."
The BEEcube BEE7 integrated baseband platform can be connected to two 60GHz broadband transceivers and phased array antennas, which increases the absolute frequency range and channel bandwidth, thereby improving performance. In addition, Xylinx's highly configurable point-to-point 500MHz mmWave modem IP offers a variety of outstanding features including adaptive modulation and bandwidth, high-performance LDPC FEC, adaptive DPD, I/Q unbalance correction, automatic frequency recovery, hybrid directional decision equalizer, and more. It also supports transmission rates of up to 3.5Gbps in single polarization mode.
