Vishay introduces new multi-size, multi-force level IHPT touch feedback actuators

     Vishay Intertechnology announced, introduced five new devices of different sizes and strength levels -IHPT1411AFELR73ABA, IHPT1207AGELR39AB0, IHPT1710ACEL1R2AB0, IHPT1411AFELR73AB0 and IHPT1614ACEL2R7BB0, Expansion of the IHPT touch feedback actuator line with solenoid valve construction (with Immersion license). The Vishay Custom Magnetics actuator operates at 12 V for in-vehicle and commercial human machine interface (HMI) LCD displays, touch screens, touch switches and button control panels with high pulse and vibration capabilities to provide clear high resolution (HD) haptic feedback.

     Available in four form factors from 29 mm x 21 mm to 44 mm x 37 mm, the device is a small two-piece structure with mounting holes for easy installation and direct operation, with variable force outputs up to 120 N. The actuator has a fast response time of 5 ms, which, combined with high mechanical forces, produces a high-resolution tactile effect, with operating voltages from 8 V to 16 V. IHPT actuators are suitable for use in harsh, noisy environments where the audio signal is insufficient to convey execution information to the user. The device has a strong, rigid copper and iron core construction and can operate at temperatures of +105 C to meet the high reliability requirements of demanding applications.

     The AEC-Q200 compliant IHPT1411AFELR73ABA is designed for automotive dashboards and center consoles to provide haptic feedback for electronic transmissions, steering wheels, seats and other on-board control systems. IHPT1207AGELR39AB0, IHPT1710ACEL1R2AB0, IHPT1411AFELR73AB0 and Typical applications for IHPT1614ACEL2R7BB0 include factory automation and control systems, consumer appliances, entertainment and health equipment, as well as medical, defense, avionics and studio audio equipment. Due to licensing restrictions, actuators cannot be used for applications such as games.

     Electromagnetic devices are rated to operate down to 12 V and do not require the additional high-voltage circuitry required for other technologies. As a result, the IHPT family of products costs less than similar technologies such as linear resonance, linear broadband, eccentric rotational mass, and piezoelectric actuators, while reducing component height and having higher force density. Devices are bundled with Immersion licenses, and complex haptic effects do not require a separate license purchase, simplifying the design process and further reducing costs.

     The IHPT actuator can drive 0.5 kg load to 6 g acceleration under 12 V, 5 ms pulse conditions. The inductance of the drive coil is 1.8 mH, the typical direct current resistance (DCR) is 0.95, and the insulation voltage between the coil and the core are 150 VDC. The device complies with RoHS and Vishay green standards, is halogen-free, and is terminated with 100% impregnated solder standard leads. Vishay can customize actuator size, shape, core material, number of windings, termination type and performance to any design specification.
