U-blox announces the most secure Wi-Fi module for the industrial market

     U-blox, a global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips, announced the launch of two new Wi-Fi modules for the industrial market. NINA-W131 and NINA-W132 are ultra-low power Wi-Fi modules that support the 2.4GHz ISM band 802.11b /g/n standard. They are the first two variants of the new NINA-W1 module family. Developed with the concept of security and reduced time-to-market, the NINA-W1 stand-alone module makes Wi-Fi integration easier. Their secure design makes them ideal for Wi-Fi applications, including in-vehicle data communication systems, low-power sensors, connected buildings (connected electrical equipment, connected surveillance, etc.), point-of-sale devices, and healthcare devices.

"With the NINA-W131 and NINA-W132 modules, we can provide product developers with instantly available modules with ultra-high security, optional antennas, pre-burned connectivity software, and multiple national certifications to more efficiently integrate Wi-Fi connectivity into IoT devices."

     The NINA-W1 module has a secure power-on feature that ensures that the module can only be powered on using the original u-blox software, providing top-level security. In addition, they provide end-to-end security on wireless links and support the latest 802.11i(WPA2) standard and enterprise security to provide secure connectivity to the infrastructure.

     Developers can choose between a module with an external antenna (NINA-W131) or a module with a built-in antenna (NINA-W132), thus simplifying design work. In addition, the NINA-W1 module is compatible with NINA-B1 Bluetooth Low Power module pins, providing maximum flexibility for devices requiring multiple radio technologies. Like all u-blox short-range radio modules, the NINA-W1 module will also be globally certified.

     NINA-W131 and NINA-W132 are the first two Wi-Fi modules in the NINA-W1 module family. The NINA-W1 family will be expanded to include different versions of the family with open cpus, Bluetooth connectivity, and additional hardware interfaces (RMII, CAN, SDIO, etc.).
