The new video glass keystroke deck format has taken a major leap forward
Zytronic has introduced an innovative video button deck solution with transparent glass keys that will revolutionize the casino gaming industry. The company's proprietary ZXY500 PCAP controller and custom firmware drive these solutions, offering multiple buttons that can be located inside or outside the display visual area. This reduces the need for further mechanical complexity and controllers and offers potential cost savings and reduced maintenance costs.
Floating glass keys offer many advantages over traditional video mechanical key designs, which require drilling a hole in the glass sensor surface for installation. Instead, they are directly laminated onto the touch-sensitive active area of the button panel and driven by a touch sensor underneath, making them fully interactive without moving parts. Therefore, they are completely waterproof and maintenance-free. The enhanced user experience is evident thanks to audible feedback when touched, combined with the tactile feel of raised buttons. In addition, because the buttons are made of glass, they have better scratch resistance and durability than plastic keys.
On one casino button deck demo unit, the company installed two glass buttons directly in the display area, without the need to print bezels to hide electronics or machinery. Dynamic images are generated by the display below and around the transparent button, simply by changing the graphics of the display itself. This provides a more active user visual experience than anything done with traditional RGB leds typically associated with mechanical keystrokes.
The company also built a demo video of the glass bash button deck design, with the glass button located in a clear glass area outside the display area. The inclusion of Omron's STP (see Penetrate Panel) technology, with predefined graphics such as the "$$$" logo and the word" PLAY ", extends the innovation to create a holotype effect under and around the bash button.
"This enhanced visual feedback is achieved through the STP's dynamic images, visible through the unprinted transparent areas of the transparent glass key and glass video key panels," Dr. Andrew Morrison, Chief Technology Officer at Zytronic, explains, "Provides a visually stunning interactive keystroke panel gaming environment that has never been achieved before."
