The AMS tri-stimulus color sensor accurately measures biologically significant blue light

     Ams introduces the AS7264N tri-stimulus sensor, which provides color measurements that accurately match the human eye's response to the visible spectrum. The new sensor can also accurately measure the wavelength of blue light, which has been linked to key health factors such as irregular life patterns, accelerated eye aging and eye strain. The compact size of the AS7264N in a 4.5mmx4.7mmx2.5mmLGA package makes it ideal for luminaires and interconnected sensor assemblies. The AS7264N is also expected to be used in emerging applications such as human-centric lighting and smart building regulation.

     The new sensors build on AMS 'successful AS72xx product platform, which offers a complete line of light and color sensors for spectral and lighting applications, from near ultraviolet to near infrared. The tri-stimulus color sensor in this product family uses a unique wafer silicon interference filter to create an independent spectral channel that matches the specifications specified in the XYZ model characteristics of the CIE1931 standard chroma observer. The AS7264N features two additional blue light filters that accurately measure the intensity of blue light at wavelengths between 440nm and 490nm.

     The small and low-cost AS7264N enables new optical control functions in lighting, displays and intelligent building automation or management systems. The application of AS7264N enables manufacturers of lighting and building automation sensing solutions to perform intelligent color monitoring in real time to measure and react to the blue light wavelengths that end users are exposed to.

     Like other products in the AS72xx family, the AS7264N offers an easy-to-use digital color measurement output via an I2C interface. The device's silicon interference filter does not produce large fluctuations with service life and temperature changes, and can maintain a lifetime of end-device calibration. Programmable on-chip LED driver with direct control of synchronous electronic shutter.
