Texas Instruments' electrical isolation repeater offers basic and enhanced isolation options

Texas Instruments ISOUSB111 is a current isolated USB 2.0 compatible repeater that supports both low (1.5 Mbps) and full (12 Mbps) signal rates. The device supports automatic connection and speed detection, pull-up/pull-down reflection, and link-layer power management and can be used for plug-in USB hubs, hosts, peripherals, and cable isolation.

The device also supports automatic role reversal, which reverses upstream and downstream port definitions if a new connection is detected on an upstream facing port after a disconnection. This feature enables the device to support USB Mobile (OTG) and Type-C dual-role port DRP implementations.

The device uses silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation sheets and has a voltage resistance of 5,000 VRMS and an operating voltage of 1,500 VRMS. The device is used in conjunction with an isolated power supply to withstand high voltages and prevent noisy current from the bus from entering the local ground. The repeater device can be used for basic and enhanced isolation, supporting a wide ambient temperature range from -40°C to +125°C. The device is packaged in a standard SOIC-16 (16-DW) package and a smaller SOP-16 (16-DWX) package.
