TDK-Lambda's converters are available in half-brick packages for railroad and industrial use

TDK-Lambda's PYH200 series 200 W DC/DC converters are capable of operating at ultra-wide 12:1 input voltages from 14 V to 160 VDC, and are therefore compatible with 24 V, 48 V, 72 V, or 110 VDC nominal system voltages. Applications include railway rolling stock and trackside equipment, robotics, power generation and scientific research equipment.

These converters provide 12 V, 15 V, 24 V, or 48 V nominal outputs. With the trimmer function, they can be adjusted using resistors or external voltages to compensate for voltage drops or to accommodate non-standard system voltages. The PYH200 model features latching overvoltage, non-latching (self-restoring) overcurrent and overheating protection with adjustable undervoltage control.

The hold time can be extended to 30 ms by adding electrolytic capacitors connected to the BUS terminals. The PYH200 switching frequency can be synchronized to the external clock with other PYH200 modules to reduce system noise. Remote on/off is also standard. The overall size of the half-brick converter is 12.7 mm high, 61 mm wide and 57.9mm long.

To meet the demanding high voltage requirements of transients and 5,000 m altitude, the power module features 3,000 VAC input to output isolation, 3,000 VAC input to baseboard isolation, and 500 VAC output to baseboard isolation. Efficiency is up to 90% and power loss can be minimized, enabling the product to operate in case temperatures from -40°C to +100°C. Cooling is achieved using an optional radiator or through the module's aluminum bottom plate cooling plate.

All models bear the CE and UKCA marks for low voltage and RoHS instructions and comply with IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards. The PYH200 series with external components is tested in accordance with EN 50155, EN 45545-2, EN 61373 and EN 50121-3-2 railway standards.
