Solid-state battery materials provide 100 times the energy density

     TDK has successfully developed cerachcharge material, a next-generation solid-state battery with an energy density of 1,000Wh/L, about 100 times higher than the energy density of the company's traditional solid-state batteries.

     The technology aims to find a solution that can be used in a variety of wearables, such as wireless headphones, hearing AIDS and even smartwatches, to replace existing coin batteries.

     Using the company's proprietary material technology, the company has developed a new solid-state battery material that has a significantly higher energy density than conventional mass-produced solid-state batteries (cerachcharge) thanks to the use of oxid-based solid electrolytes and lithium alloy anodes. The use of oxide-based solid electrolytes makes the battery extremely safe. It is suitable for wearables and other devices that come into direct contact with the human body.

     The battery can be used to replace coin batteries, in line with EU battery regulations requiring their replacement with rechargeable batteries. This is expected to reduce the environmental impact.

     The company is committed to developing battery cell and package structural designs and moving towards mass production with the goal of developing its new product, solid-state batteries. Using the production engineering technology accumulated in the field of electronic components, the capacity of the battery is increased and the operating temperature range of the battery is expanded by multi-layer lamination technology.

     The use of oxide-based solid electrolytes makes the battery extremely safe. Smaller sizes and higher capacitors contribute to smaller device sizes and longer operating times.
