Smart home applications with the new XMOS voice capture technology

     XMOS Ltd., a leader in voice and music connectivity technology, announced the launch of xCORE Array microphones, the world's most flexible microphone aggregation solution for voice user interface (VUI) in smart home applications. With the ability to gather up to 32 MEMS microphones and provide USB and I2S backtrips, XMOS enables a whole new class of array microphones with applications including smart TVS, bar speakers, virtual digital assistant (VDA) and smart home automation. The solution is based on the xCORE-200 device family and is available with evaluation board and software library support.

     The emerging voice user interface (VUI) technology is the only viable way for us to interact with the growing variety of smart devices in our homes. Accurate far-field voice capture supports VUI technology, and the use of multiple microphones provides the best results. Currently, many solutions are limited to 2 or 4 microphones, while XMOS solutions can deploy up to 32 microphones, improving the user experience through higher signal-to-noise ratio performance, as well as enhanced control over sensitivity and directivity.
