STMicroelectronics releases 100W wireless charging receiver chip for the current fastest Qi wireless charging

STMicroelectronics has launched the 100W wireless charging receiver chip, which is the highest rated wireless charging receiver chip in the industry, for the fastest wireless charging in the current market. Using STMicro's new chip, the STWLC99, a high-end smartphone with the largest battery can be fully charged in less than 30 minutes.

In addition to improving user convenience, high-power wireless charging technology allows designers to create industrial devices without power sockets and power cords, bringing a variety of benefits to end users. Eliminating the charging socket saves circuit board space and strengthens the device's water - and dust-proof seal, making it easier to operate in challenging environments. Wireless charging technology can avoid the annoying problem of tangled wires. Independently mobile devices such as robots and drones can be easily charged without a machine or human connection to a charging cable. Technical details:

1)The STWLC99 energy efficient architecture incorporates a synchronous rectifier with a low RDS(on) MOSFET and a low voltage differential regulator that transmits power received from the charger to the battery while minimizing power loss and dissipation.

2)The new products comply with the Qi 1.2.4 and 1.3 specifications, support Qi Extended Power Profile (EPP), and utilize STSuperCharge (STSC) fast charging protocol specifically optimized by stmicroelectronics. When paired with stmicroelectronics' STWBC2-HP transmitter solution, the receiver chip achieves up to 100W of charging power.

3)The STWLC99 stores configuration parameters in on-chip non-volatile memory and exchanges configuration data and charge control commands through the I2C interface. The chip has a full set of built-in safety protection features, including current detection, accurate foreign body detection, transmission mode Q factor detection, and overcurrent, overvoltage and overheating protection.

4)The STWLC99 can also be used as a charging transmitter to charge other devices, with a maximum power of 25W.
