Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 5G module solutions to accelerate 5G adoption in smartphones and key verticals

     Qualcomm Technologies announced the release of Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G Module solutions designed to help original equipment manufacturers (Oems) who want to take full advantage of 5G technology in a convenient way, supporting their rapid commercial use of 5G in smartphones and major verticals. By integrating the most basic 5G components into simple modules, Qualcomm Technologies aims to simplify end-device design, reduce total cost of ownership and support faster time to business, ultimately allowing new Oems to accelerate 5G adoption in their systems.

     Qualcomm Technologies' new 5G module solution integrates more than a thousand components in several module products, further reducing terminal design complexity through optimization, accelerating deployment and lowering barriers to entry. This highly integrated solution enables Oems to design by combining just a few simple modules, avoiding the complexity of building their terminals with more than a thousand components. Qualcomm Technologies offers modular products that integrate components covering digital, RF, connectivity, and front-end functions. Key components include application processors, baseband modems, memory, PMIC, Radio frequency front ends (RFFE), antennas, and passive components, providing Oems with optimized solutions that allow them to quickly and easily get to production at lower cost and in less time. With 5G modules expected to be ready for sampling in 2019, customers will also benefit from up to 30 percent less board area compared to product design using separate, standalone components.

     With the addition of the new 5G modules, Qualcomm Technologies has an even richer product portfolio, making it the first company to offer a transformational, total turnkey commercial 5G module solution.
