Powerbox's COTS/MOTS power supply products are designed to meet demanding application requirements

     Powerbox introduces robust defense military power products for special industry applications. This time, seven series of power supply products were launched, three DC/DC (DAA-DAB-DAC), four AC/DC (DBA-DBB-DBC-DBD), with power from 50W to 1200W. With a metal base plate and a cooling substrate, the DAx and DBx series use substrate cooling and operate at temperatures from -40 to +100 degrees. Relatively specific application areas require conformal coatings and mechanical reinforcement, as well as harsh electrical transients and EMC performance requirements, which are most commonly found in defense, Marine, avionics, hardened industrial applications, and railway standards. Designed for high performance, short time-to-market and to meet commercial and military off-the-shelf (COTS/MOTS) business models, the modular DAx and DBx families allow for up to six outputs that can be connected serially-, in parallel, or as a standalone output - multi-functional products.

     In terms of application, the military DC/DC DAA/DAB/DAC power supply has a very effective input filter, reverse voltage protection with built-in diodes, input transient protection and internal fuses that prevent damage in the event of failure. Each output is protected from accidental and permanent short circuits. The internal overtemperature protection circuit (OTP) protects against excessive heating and automatically recovers. Covering such a wide range of military or rugged industrial applications, the DAA, DAB, DAC series can be used for five input voltages of 12, 24, 48, 72 and 110vdc, and output voltages from 3.3vdc to 48V.

     For the purpose of safety and electrical insulation, DAA, DAB, DAC can withstand 1500Vrms electrical strength from input to ground, input to output up to 3000Vrms and output to ground up to 500Vrms. The range complies with safety standards IEC and EN60950-1 and meets the application requirements of railway EN50155 and EN50121. The DAX series can be configured for special needs transient performance 12V and 28V and is compliant with MIL-StD-1275 and DEF STAN 61-5 and avionics applications, as well as MIL-STD-704, DO-160 and ABD100. For environmental protection, the DAx series can be configured to meet the requirements of the railway standard MIL-STD-810, avionics and Marine. The DAx Series is designed for EMC performance according to Class 55022 Class A, with additional options to meet MIL-STD-461 conducted emission requirements.

     Powerbox's AC/DC Defense Line series includes four conduction cooling modules for applications ranging from 150W to 1200W power supplies. As for DC/DC, the AC/DC DBx family is an optimization of rugged power solutions for specific applications. The DBA-DBB-DBC-DBD series utilizes an input filter, active surge current limiter, and power factor correction (PFC).

     Input voltages ranging from 85 to 264VAC and frequencies up to 440hz are derived from the modular concept, with a large output voltage range from 2.0V to 54V and with a variety of options from a single output to six outputs. The DBX series can reach 1500Vrms isolation from input to ground, 3000Vrms from input and 500Vrms from output to ground.

     With an efficient topology, the DBX series has 85% efficiency and low standby power consumption. Following the requirements of system integration, all products have a limited height of 40mm(1.57inch). DBx series product size: DBA 1200W 255 x 127 x 40mm (10.0 x 5.0 x 1.57 inch); DBB 600W 200 x 127 x 40mm (7.87 x 5.0 x 1.57 inch); The DBC 300W 200 x 82 x 40mm (7.87 x 3.23 x 1.57 inch) and the DBD 150W 165 x 61 x 35mm (6.49 x 2.40 x 1.38 inch). All products feature embedded input and output safety protection (e.g., short circuit, current limiting) and overheat protection with automatic restart.

     The DBx series is designed and manufactured to the IEC/EN60950 safety standard and can be used in Marine AC systems MIL-STD-1399, and MIL-STD-461. Mechanically reinforced and conformal coatings are selected to meet the high specifications of MIL-STD-810 for defense, Marine, aerospace and other special requirements as well as for portable or mobile applications.

     In the defense industry, the fields requiring rugged power supply applications are very wide. The Powerbox DAx and DBx series therefore include additional options to meet higher environmental standards and requirements. Options "M" are electrical and mechanical reinforcement including withstand higher shock and vibration, harsh transient protection and additional EMC filtering such as MIL-STD 461E CE102, MIL-STD 1275, MIL-STD 1399-300A and MIL-STD 810E.

     The option "T" is fully functional and can operate at temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius. Application exposed to high humidity, salt spray, oil fumes, sand particles, dust or other contaminants, option "V" has a conformal coating suitable for such environments. In cases where convection cooling is required, a range of radiators has been developed for the DAx and DBx series products, which are named the "H" option.
