Power inductors with very compact size and excellent electrical value

TDK's CLT32 series of power inductors are compact in size and offer excellent electrical value. Nine models have inductance ranges from 17 nH to 440 nH and are designed for saturation currents from 13.5 A to 60 A. The compact footprint of 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm and insertion height of 2.5 mm make these SMT power inductors very compact. They are designed for temperatures ranging from -40°C to +165°C, including self-heating.

These AEC-Q200 certified components are designed with a ferromagnetic plastic compound covered with molded solid copper coils. The end of the coil has been used as a terminal, which greatly increases reliability, especially in automotive applications. Thanks to the solid copper coil, these products can achieve a very low R(DC) value, keeping losses to a minimum. When the inductance value is 17 nH, the ohm resistance is only 0.39 milliohm.

The compact and highly robust CLT32 inductors are ideal for safety-critical automotive applications in ADAS/AD. High-performance processors used in these areas require currents in the double-digit amperage range. Power management ics (pics) are used to supply these high currents and use power inductors to stabilize the output on key components. The CLT32 models are designed for switching frequencies up to 10mhz and already meet future requirements for high clock rate DC/DC converters.
