Power Integrations introduces the new LinkSwitch-XT2 line of off-line flyback switching power supply ics

     An industry leader in high-voltage integrated circuits dedicated to energy-efficient power conversion introduces the LinkSwitch™-XT2 series of off-line low-power converter ics that offer high precision, high efficiency and outstanding no-load performance. The LinkSwitch-XT2 IC is suitable for isolated and non-isolated flyback applications that require precise adjustment of output voltage and output current. The new IC offers 6.1 W of output power in a wide input range design and 9.2 W of output power in 230 VAC open applications.

     The LinkSwitch-XT2 product family is suitable for flyback topologies, enabling designs with better than +/-3% output voltage and current regulation and typical efficiencies of more than 80%. The LinkSwitch-XT2 IC has a no-load power consumption of less than 10 mW. Due to its high operating frequency (132 kHz), a smaller power transformer can be used, while its external configurable current limiting point (ILIM) further optimizes the transformer design.

     The LinkSwitch-XT2 device integrates the 725 V power MOSFETs and control circuits simultaneously on a single chip. Its integrated safety and reliability features include input overvoltage protection, overheat hysteresis thermal shutdown protection, and automatic restart protection for entry in the event of short circuit, overvoltage, and open circuit failures in the output.
