Patented technology to mitigate the adverse effects of single event failure (seu) in high-reliability flash-based systems

     SMART Modular Technologies, Inc.  announced a patented technology to mitigate the adverse effects of single event failure (seu) in systems based on high-reliability flash memory. SMART Modular's MP3000 NVMe SSD products feature SEU mitigation that reduces annual failure rates from up to 17.5k/Mu(million units) to below 10/Mu, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in possible service costs by ensuring hundreds of hours of uninterrupted uptime. This is especially important for remote deployments that are hard to fix

    SEU is an unintentional change in the "bit state" that occurs in a digital system when high-energy neutrons or alpha particles randomly strike and cause bits (logical components) in memory to flip their state. These high-energy particles can come from Earth or extraterrestrial sources, such as cosmic rays. seu can cause abnormal operation of the digital system or failure of the entire system. Resolving these errors or failures within the SSD allows recovery without the need for a full system reboot, which is critical to maintaining reliable operation and uninterrupted uptime.   

     SEU mitigation technology is superior to other internal SRAM solutions that rely solely on ECC. By gracefully restarting itself without restarting the host system, the SSD can also handle possible rollover bits in other components within the SSD, which can cause a 10% failure. Designed for applications requiring maximum uptime, these boot drives feature SEU mitigation, storage capacities ranging from 60GB to 1.92TB, and are available in commercial and industrial temperature grades.   

     The ME2 SATA M.2 and mSATA drives offer 60GB to 1.92TB of storage and are available in commercial grades (operating temperature :0°c to 70°c) and industrial grades (operating temperature :-40°c to 85°c). m.22280 also supports SafeDATA loss data protection

     The MP3000 NVMe PCIe drive with SEU mitigation offers 80GB to 1.92TB of storage in M.2 2280, M.2 22110 and E1. Factors of form S.
