On Semiconductor introduces sensorless three-phase motor controllers for automotive BLDC
ON Semiconductor introduces the LV8907UW to further expand its motor controller product lineup. This high-performance, feature-rich device supports a range of operating voltages from 5.5V to 20V (4.5V to 40V transient), enabling a streamlined solution for driving three-phase brushless motors. The LV8907UW integrates gate drivers to drive six N-channel MOSFETs and a two-stage charge pump for 100% duty cycle operation. In its lowest cost configuration, the IC works without an external microcontroller.
The device does not need to be programmed because key parameters and functions such as startup and speed Settings can be configured via the SPI interface and stored in embedded non-volatile (OTP) memory. The device can also be used for open and closed loop speed control. For more complex applications, the LV8907UW also supports small microcontrollers with integrated linear regulators (3.3V or 5V, 50 mA), Local Interconnect network (LIN) transceivers for automotive interconnectivity, and a watchdog timer.
LV8907UW complies with AEC-Q100 standard, operating temperature range up to 175 ° C, thus ensuring reliable operation in challenging automotive environments. Integrated protection mechanisms include over current, over voltage, short circuit, under voltage and over temperature. The device's characteristics make it ideal for automotive pumps, oil pumps, fuel pumps, HVAC systems, cooling fans, and headlight cooling units.
