Microchip offers MCP19123 Digital Enhanced Power Analog (DEPA) buck controllers for DC-DC power conversion
Microchip Technology's MCP19123 Power analog controller is a medium-voltage (4.5V to 40V) analog synchronous step-down PWM controller with an integrated 8-bit PIC microcontroller. This unique product combines the performance of a high-speed analog solution with the configurability and communication interface of a digital solution.
The controller provides excellent regulation accuracy, high efficiency and fast transient response of the variable output analog PWM controller. Integrated microcontroller controls monitoring and management functions. Combining these solution types allows the creation of a range of devices that maximize the benefits of each technology to create a more cost-effective, configurable, high-performance power conversion solution. These devices are powered by Microchip's suite of programming and development tools, including the MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and the MPLAB XC8 compiler. The integration of linear regulators, drivers, timers, temperature sensors, and feedback network capabilities creates a very compact, versatile power conversion solution.
The MCP19123 step-down controller offers a number of unique features, including a programmable differential input amplifier for optimizing performance and minimizing system voltage errors. This configurability allows for a wide range of output voltages, commonly seen in USB power and battery charger applications. Improved integration In larger systems, devices can be synchronized to an external clock and voltage reference, or provide an internal system clock and reference to other devices for synchronization.
In a server or communication device, this allows for seamless power-on and accurate tracking of power consumption across the board. For high-power applications, multiple outputs can operate in parallel to provide system redundancy and improve system reliability. Combined with onboard programmable diagnostic and fault detection capabilities that are unmatched in the industry, the MCP19122/3 is ideal for high-performance smart power applications.
