Microchip Technology PIC18F K40 Series mcu

      Microchip's PIC18F "K40" line continues Microchip's long tradition of innovation in 8-bit MCUS by bringing popular core stand-alone peripherals (CIPs) into the PIC18 product line. These cost-optimized MCUS consist of 10 devices ranging in size from 16 KB to 128 KB of flash memory, with package options covering 28 pins to 64 pins. They are well suited to a wide range of applications and market segments, including touch sensing, industrial control, consumer, automotive, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

     These devices include a full core of independent peripherals for safety-critical applications (CRC/memory scan, window watchdog timer, and hardware Limit timer), up to seven hardware PWMs, and multiple communication interfaces. In addition, the family offers intelligent analog peripherals including zero-cross detection (ZCD) constant-current I/O, on-chip comparator, and ADC with computation (ADC(2)).

     CIPs abstracts normally required system functions into flexible on-chip hardware modules. This not only increases the throughput and CPU bandwidth of the PIC18F "K40" family, but also significantly reduces the software design effort required to architecture these features. For example, ADC(2) is an intelligent analog-to-digital converter that accelerates the data acquisition and signal analysis functions required for sensor interface applications such as capacitive touch sensing. ADC(2) is independent of signal analysis functions such as CPU processing averaging, filtering, oversampling, and automatic threshold comparison.
