Maxim announces the MAX14819 dual-channel IO-Link host transceiver to help Industry 4.0 applications achieve reliable communication with 50% lower power consumption. Modern fan-less programmable logic controllers (PLCS) and IO-link gateway systems both consume a lot of power, depending on the different IO configurations (IO-Link, digital input/output, analog input/output).

     Maxim announces the MAX14819 dual-channel IO-Link host transceiver to help Industry 4.0 applications achieve reliable communication with 50% lower power consumption. Modern fan-less programmable logic controllers (PLCS) and IO-link gateway systems both consume a lot of power, depending on the different IO configurations (IO-Link, digital input/output, analog input/output). With the migration of these PLCS to the construction of new Industry 4.0 intelligent factories, a number of design considerations must be paid special attention to achieve a smarter, faster, lower power solution while meeting IO-Link and standard IO (SIO) compatibility.

     As always, Maxim offers comprehensive factory automation solutions that pave the way for Industry 4.0. The unique architecture of the MAX14819 reduces power consumption by 50% compared to other IO-Link hosting solutions and is fully compatible with IO-Link and SIO communications in all modes. The reliable L+ power controller provides configurable current limiting and reverse voltage/current protection to ensure reliable communication with the lowest power consumption.

     A single microcontroller integrated into a framer/Universal asynchronous transceiver (UART) offers the most scalable and productive architecture while supporting the industry's fastest transfer cycle (400 microseconds) with reduced latency. The MAX14819 comes in a 48-pin (7mm x 7mm) TQFN package and operates in a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Application oriented includes IO-Link host system and IO-Link gateway.
