Maxim introduces a mono, 3.2W Class D amplifier

     Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. introduces the industry's first mono, 3.2W Class D amplifier with integrated input coupling capacitors, the MAX98314.The MAX98314 has a built-in input capacitor that enables ultra-small scheme sizes of 1mm x 1mm, saving at least 25% of board space. Devices are ideal for portable electronics with limited PCB area, including: mobile phones, portable audio devices, laptops, MP3 players, netbooks, and VoIP phones.

     The MAX98314 with built-in capacitors provides better voltage independence and match than standard Class D amplifiers with external input capacitors. This Class D amplifier has excellent linearity, effectively improves the power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of the system, and improves the low frequency sound.

     This 3.2W amplifier delivers the audio performance of a Class AB amplifier with the efficiency of a Class D amplifier. High efficiency and low static current can effectively extend battery life and reduce solution power consumption. The device uses a low noise base and click/crackle suppression technology to effectively eliminate any type of noise and improve the sound quality of the system. The MAX98314 is an important part of Maxim's many audio solutions for improving the sound quality of mobile products.
