Infineon expands the ISOFACE portfolio to offer four-channel digital isolators for industrial and automotive applications

     Modern electronic systems in automotive and industrial applications require robust, efficient and precise data communication capabilities to ensure optimal performance. To address these needs, Infineon announced the ISOFACE™ four-channel digital isolator, further expanding its extensive isolation technology and product portfolio.

     ISOFACE four-channel digital isolators are divided into two categories: the AEC-Q100 certified ISOFACETM 4DIRx4xxHA series is designed for automotive applications such as on-board chargers (OBC), battery management systems (BMS), inverters, and motor control; The JEDEC-compliant ISOFACE 4DIRx4xxH series is designed for industrial applications such as renewable energy, servers, telecommunications, industrial Switching Mode Power supplies (SMPS), industrial automation, and isolated serial peripheral interfaces (SPI). These products are packaged in a 300 mil PG-DSO 16 widebody package with four data channels, providing greater isolation and ensuring reliable data communication even in demanding environments.

     ISOFACE four-channel digital isolators operate from a power supply voltage range of 2.7 to 6.5 V. Despite such a wide supply voltage range, these digital isolators are still very power efficient, with a maximum current consumption of only 1.6 mA per channel when operating at speeds of up to 1 Mbps at a 3.3V supply voltage and a 15 pF load capacitor. In addition, Infineon's robust core-less transformer (CT) technology provides strong system noise resistance (common-mode transient immunity of at least 100 kV/µs) and can withstand isolation voltages of up to 5700 Vrms.

     ISOFACE digital isolators are rugged and particularly suited to work in challenging, difficult environments such as extreme temperature conditions. The isolators for automotive applications are designed to operate effectively in Class I ambient temperatures and can withstand temperatures as low as -40°C and as high as +125°C, demonstrating their durability.

     These isolators are able to address a variety of environmental challenges, such as voltage transients, electromagnetic interference (EMI), electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical interference, etc., ensuring stable and reliable performance. Due to low propagation latency and minimal mismatches between channels, they have precise timing performance that reduces the risk of corruption and guarantees data integrity. In addition, its pins are compatible with each other, increasing the stability of the power supply and thus improving the reliability of the entire system.

     These isolators are good at minimizing signal noise over a wide supply voltage range, and their precise timing performance and compatibility facilitate high power density designs.
