Epson and Microsemi collaborate to deliver the IEEE 1588-2008 and SyncE Compliance Networks

     Seiko Epson, a world leader in quartz crystal technology, and Microsemi Corporation, a leading provider of differentiated semiconductor technology solutions in terms of power consumption, safety, reliability and performance, announced the joint development of a compliance network synchronization solution. Epson's TG7050EAN high frequency and high Stability temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) is used to support the ZL30722IEEE-1588 and Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) packet Eclock network synchronizer.

     Epson's TG7050EAN TCXO provides short-term stability with support for IEEE-1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), as well as Stratum3 compliance protection, with the unique feature of providing both high frequency and high stability. And the industry's largest time interval error (MTIE) and Time deviation (TDEV) specification allowance to ensure reliable operation under real-world conditions, such as rapid airflow and temperature changes.

     The ZL30722 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including small cellular routers and switches, broadband access, carrier-grade Ethernet devices and wireless devices such as base station backhaul devices, as well as smart grids and synchronous phasors. This device offers SyncE/IEEE-1588 synchronization with excellent 0.25 picosecond (ps) root-mean-square (rms) jitter performance.

     TG7050EAN and ZL30722 work together to comply with ITU-T G.813, G.823, G.824, G.8261, G.8262 and G.8263 standards, provide the frequency accuracy and phase synchronization required for a variety of wireless and wired protocols, and support new ITU-T packet timing drafts and recommendations. The TG7050EAN now offers samples and joins a family of Epson TG-5500 TCXX devices and other timing devices that can be shared with Megalomy Synchro integrated circuits (ics).
