Diodes battery protection circuit equipped with accurate voltage detection function effectively extends battery life

     Diodes Incorporated's new AP9214L provides single-chip protection for single-cell lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries for use in rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs for smartphones, cameras, and similar portable electronics. The new product is aimed at manufacturers of battery protection modules, whose precise monitoring capabilities ensure safe charging and discharging, effectively extending battery life and reducing energy loss.

     The AP9214L encapsulates the lithium-ion battery protection circuit with a double-N-channel common drain MOSFET to quickly shut down the MOSFET when it detects overcharge voltage/current, overdischarge voltage/current, or load short circuit. The stable temperature coefficient characteristics ensure the device's high-precision voltage detection capability, enabling the precise Settings required for end applications across a wide range of voltages. The device also has a built-in fixed detection delay time to reduce the number of external components.

     The AP9214L's static current is generally as low as 3.0μA in normal mode at +25°C, and its MOSFETs have an ultra-low on-resistance of 13.5mΩ, which contributes to significant power savings. The device further reduces the static current to less than 0.1μA in power down mode. The AP9214L is produced in a high-voltage CMOS process and can withstand voltage surges up to 30V. It comes in an ultra-thin DFN2535-6 package with a thickness of up to just 0.6mm, suitable for thin battery protection modules.
