Diodes Self-protecting self-restoring electronic fuses are suitable for consumer electronics

     Diodes Incorporated's new self-restoring electronic fuse NIS5135 improves system reliability by preventing downtime and damaging failures for plug and play in consumer electronics such as hard and solid state drives, printers and set-top boxes. The new device gives the product self-recovery function, effectively reducing unnecessary customer return losses.

     Rated 3.6A, the NIS5135 offers a wide input voltage range of 3.1V to 18V and incorporates NMOS power devices with on-resistance as low as 30mΩ to reduce power losses. It also has an internal current limiting capability to prevent voltage drops normally caused by setting external current detection resistors within the load path.

     The new series of overvoltage circuits limit the output voltage without having to turn off the device, while the undervoltage and thermal shutdown circuits further prevent damage or premature aging of downstream components, with the NIS5135MN1 and NIS5135MN2 offering lockout and automatic retry options, respectively.

     The NIS5135 comes in a small, slim U-DFN3030-10 package that minimizes application space. Its industry-standard pin distribution can be adapted to existing device designs, thus replacing existing devices and enabling designs to be mass-produced at a lower cost.
