Diodes DFN2020 packaged P-channel MOSFETs reduce load switching losses

     Diodes Incorporated's new DMP1022UFDF and DMP2021UFDF P-channel MOSFETs are available in compact 2mm x 2mm DFN2020 packages, offering 12V and 20V ratings respectively. The new products are suitable for load switches in portable consumer electronics such as tablets, smartphones and ultrabooks that pursue efficient battery management, as well as Internet of Things applications.

     Both MOSFETs offer low on-resistance at low gate drives, which is ideal for circuit designers who want an easy way to turn off low-voltage power rails. This also ensures that power rails as low as 1.5V can be switched on and off with minimal on-off losses. The on-resistance of DMP1022UFDF under -2.5V gate drive is less than 20mΩ; The on-resistance of the DMP2021UFDF at a -1.8V gate drive is less than 26mΩ. Using MOSFETs as high-side load switches to turn off idle processor cores and other inactive circuits can effectively extend battery life.

     The new product features a small DFN2020 package with a seating area of only 4mm2 and a height of only 0.6mm from the board, which is also ideal for space-demanding applications. The package also features a drain pad with a node-to-pad thermal resistance of less than 10°C/W to provide heat dissipation, reducing bare chip temperature and improving device reliability.
