Cypress introduces a new Traveo MCU solution that provides secure, high-speed networking for automotive body electronics systems

     Cypress Semiconductor has announced that samples of its new family of single-power powered Traveo automotive microcontrollers (MCUS), the S6J342xxx, are now available. The new S6J342xxx series provides safe and high-speed networking services for automotive body electronic system applications; It supports the Controller Area Network Flexible data-rate (CAN FD) standard for in-car high-speed network services, allowing large amounts of Data to be exchanged between multiple CAN nodes.

     The MCU family uses the enhanced Secure Hardware Extension (eSHE), which prevents unauthorized electronic control unit (ECU) connections, thereby protecting the data security of the in-car network and meeting the critical security needs of the automotive market. Cypress offers a rich portfolio of automotive products, including MCUS, radio frequency, storage, capacitive touch solutions, power management ics (PMIC), and more, and the new series announced today adds to that portfolio.

     The Traveo S6J342xxx series of solutions uses Cypress's 40nm embedded charge-trap (eCT™) flash memory technology to further improve product performance and reliability. This family of solutions provides richer features and more cost-effective implementations for body control modules, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, collision warning systems, gateways and lighting applications. The MCU is based on a powerful 132MHz ARM® Cortex®-R5 core that supports up to 1MB of high-capacity embedded flash memory as application storage. The unique partial wake mode allows the MCU to minimize average power consumption. Cypress offers a wide range of specifications under this series, making it easy for Oems to develop solutions.
