TDK's ACT1210E series (3.2mm x 2.5mm x 2.5mm) is the industry's first common-mode filter designed specifically for automotive Ethernet 10BASE-T1S. The product uses TDK's proprietary wire winding structure and optimal materials to achieve excellent high-scattering parameters (S-parameters) and maximum line-to-line capacitance of 10pf, with operating temperatures ranging from -40℃ to +125℃.

Laser welding of winding wire to metallized terminals provides high thermal shock resistance and excellent reliability. With increasing attention on autonomous driving in cars, the installation of electronic control units (ECUs) related to safety features such as Advanced Driver assistance systems (ADAS) is also on the rise. Among Ethernet communications standards, 10BASE-T1S is unique in that it supports a multi-drop topology, allowing multiple ECUs to be connected.

 

In this respect, it differs from 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1, which only support point-to-point communication. An increasing number of customers are now considering moving to Ethernet systems from the CAN, CAN FD, and flex-x standards, which are commonly used today because they support multi-drop connections for standard consistency. ACT1210E will demonstrate that its features fit these requirements and help to improve telecommunications quality and suppress noise
