Bourns FLAT GDT products to save space, energy and other features, Phoenix Contact's favor

     Bourns has announced that Phoenix Contact, a leading developer of components, systems and solutions for the future of applications, will use the FLAT GDT family of products launched by Bourns in 2017 for TERMITRAB Complete products. The lightweight design of the Bourns FLAT GDT, the world's thinnest surge protection device (SPD), is an important breakthrough in terms of space and energy savings, and has enabled Phoenix Contact to reduce the size of its latest SPD product to a total width of just 3.5mm.

     Phoenix Contact's TERMITRAB Complete Surge Protection Devices (SPD) are designed to meet today's demand for higher density signal transmission in a diverse range of measurement, control and regulation systems. TERMITRAB Complete uses Phoenix Contact's innovative input connection technology and Bourns FLAT GDT profile components to carry more than 572MCR signals per meter. Flexible design application, choose TERMITRAB Complete, can complete the best expectations of consumers; From simple, extremely thin protection devices to protective plugs for testing, signal cables, optional remote control modules and more. The product offers a complete low voltage system with additional features including a status indicator and optional remote signal transmission control for optimal protection.

     With innovations in Bourns FLAT packaging and horizontal circuits, the FLAT GDT offers superior overvoltage protection solutions for sensitive, high-density and space-constrained devices such as Phoenix Contact's surge protection. Compared to a normal 8mm Bourns® gas discharge tube, the new device saves 75% of the volume and can vertically place twice as many FLAT GDT 2017 units on the board space of the same conventional 8mm gas discharge tube. Bourns FLAT GDT offers significant features and key protection advantages in conventional gas discharge tube technology. It provides strong isolation and current resistance under overvoltage, excellent surge current rating, low leakage current and low insertion loss, and capacitance values remain constant at different voltages.
