Ams introduces NFC sensor interfaces for Industrial iot applications

     Ams Conductor Corporation announced the AS3956, a dynamic NFC labeling IC that meets industrial-grade quality standards and provides high reliability for mission-critical applications and products with long service life. The AS3956 dynamic tag enables a contactless connection between the sensor and any NFC reader, such as a smartphone, via the host controller. It supports NDEF data exchange protocols that meet the requirements of the NFC Forum, ensuring interoperability with any NFC phone, including Apple iOS devices.

     To ensure the reliability of the AS3956, AMS worked closely with manufacturing customers for industrial applications and the Internet of Things industry during its development. In practice response comprehensive environmental testing verifies the chip's superior performance and reliability in a range of demanding operating environments.

     The AS3956 has an energy harvesting feature that absorbs energy generated by the NFC reader from the RF field and delivers up to 5mA of current to external devices. Highly cost-effective and small footprint energy harvesting replaces standard wireless charging modules to help extend battery life in biometric smart cards or enable fully passive wireless sensing solutions such as those required for smart islet cables.
