The DC-DC converter series has been extended with new models

     TDK Corporation has extended the TDK-Lambda brand CN-B110 series to offer quarter brick DC-DC converters rated at 50W, 100W and 150w. The converters operate over a wide input voltage range of 43VDC to 160VDC and are compatible with 72VDC or 110VDC nominal railway systems for applications such as rolling stock and trackside equipment.

     These added converters offer 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V and 48V outputs, extending the series from 50W to 300W. With the pruning function, they can be modified using resistors or external voltages to compensate for voltage drops or to accommodate non-standard system voltages.

     To meet the high voltage requirements of transient and 5000m height, the series has sufficient spacing between the main input and the baseplate to provide 2500VAC isolation voltage. The input-output isolation between the output and the baseplate is 3000VAC and 500VAC. Up to 92% efficiency minimizes power loss, enabling the product to operate at baseplate temperatures of -40 ° C and +100 ° C, with virtually no derating value at high temperatures. Cooling is done by an optional radiator or cold plate through the module's aluminum baseplate.

     50W to 150W models come standard with remote on/off and optional 7V to 11V 10mA auxiliary output (replacing negative telemetry). Other options include board coating, non-threaded mounting holes, short 3mm pin length, and no package (50W and 100W models only). The quarter brick converter has dimensions of 12.7mm high, 37.2 mm wide and 58.3 mm long.

     All models carry the CE and UKCA marks for low voltage and RoHS directives and are certified to the IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standard. The series also complies with IEC 61373 Class 1 B shock/vibration standards for railway vehicles and meets the requirements of EN 45545-2 (Fire protection for railway vehicles) and EN 50155(1) (electronic equipment for railway vehicles) in the certification system.
