Second generation high sensitivity solid state MEMS speaker

     XMEMS Labs has introduced Montara Plus, its second generation of high-resolution full-frequency (20Hz to 40KHz) monolithic MEMS micro-speakers. Montara Plus is only 64mm3 and provides 120dB sound pressure level at 1kHz. Montara Plus is the ideal full-bandwidth speaker for audiophile grade high-resolution IEM (In-Ear Monitor), opening up new avenues for smaller, lighter, simpler IEM designs without the phase alignment and design complexity implemented by multi-speaker setup IEM. Engineering samples of side and upper outs will be available in March 2023

     Montara Plus benefits from the inherent advantages of xMEMS solid-state miniature speaker technology, namely lightning-fast transient response, near zero phase shift and +/-1° interpart phase consistency, paving the way for the most natural IEM and the most accurate time domain music reproduction. For manufacturers, solid-state semiconductor processes produce highly uniform and reliable drives without the need for matching and calibration.

     XMEMS offers the Montara Plus evaluation kit for IEM and DAC/amp manufacturers, as well as audiophiles who are excited about this new solid-state transducer technology and want to experience it. The evaluation kit includes 3D-printed Montara Plus earplugs and a DC biased power supply to drive Montara Plus IEM from a list of pre-qualified standard headphone amplifiers, such as HIFIMAN, S.M.S.L. Topping and other companies.
