Second generation automotive grade inductors with integrated EMI shielding in 4040 housing size

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its IHLE family of low-profile, high-current inductors, featuring integrated e-field shielding, with a new second-generation automotive-grade device in dimensions of 10mm x 10mm 4040. Packaged in 100% lead-free (Pb), magnetic shielding, and ferroalloy sealants, the device provides additional mounting support for high resistance to shock, moisture, and mechanical shock, provided by its two shielding terminals.

     The inductor is rohs compliant, halogen-free and Vishay Green. Compared to the previous generation solution, the Vishay Dale IHLE-4040DDEO-5A offers an improved shield design with polarity marked for more consistent EMI performance, reduced costs and board space savings, potentially eliminating the need for separate board-level Faraday shields.

     In contrast to conventional composite inductors, the device incorporates the electric and magnetic fields associated with EMI in a tinned copper integrated shield. When the shield is connected to the ground, the device provides up to 20dB reduction in radiated noise interference and a further 6dB reduction in magnetic leakage to minimize crosstalk to nearby board components. The inductor features continuous high temperature operation to +155C and increased operating and isolation voltage ratings to 75V and 100V, respectively.

     The power inductors are optimized for energy storage in switch-mode power supplies and provide excellent noise attenuation when used as DC power line chokes. AEC-Q200 certified for entertainment/navigation systems, filtering and DC-DC conversion of LED drivers, and noise suppression for motors, automotive dcu and other noise sensitive applications.
