ON Semiconductor introduces highly integrated single-chip mobile power solutions for the development of next-generation lithium-ion battery-powered products. The LC709501F lithium battery package offers a wide power and voltage/current output range in 5 volt (V), 9 V and 12 V operation, with a maximum charge and discharge capacity of 30 watts (W) through simple FET selection.

     ON Semiconductor introduces highly integrated single-chip mobile power solutions for the development of next-generation lithium-ion battery-powered products. The LC709501F lithium battery package offers a wide power and voltage/current output range in 5 volt (V), 9 V and 12 V operation, with a maximum charge and discharge capacity of 30 watts (W) through simple FET selection.

     The LC709501F determines what type of device is connected and automatically selects the fastest charging method available. Experienced users can even reprogram the LC709501F to support customized charge/discharge curves, as well as USB Type-C and PD "strategy engine" capabilities. The single-chip solution includes integrated coulometer functions, configurable I/O, LED drivers, I2C interfaces, and pre-drivers for external power MOSFETs, providing system flexibility. On Semiconductor also offers a design reference kit for rapid time-to-market. The LC709501F supports a variety of different output power levels up to 30 W by varying the external MOSFETs. In addition, the single chip has an integrated USB 2.0 full speed host controller.

     The LC709501F's USB host controller supports interworking with iOS and Android apps, allowing the device to communicate with connected smartphones, using its display to display information about battery health and charging processes (charge time, battery life, number of charge cycles completed, etc.). The device is compatible with proprietary charging protocols used by smartphone manufacturers, such as Fast Charge and Qualcomm Fast Charge, to speed up charging times. To ensure operating life, the LC709501F also offers overcurrent, overvoltage and redundant battery protection mechanisms, as well as a thermistor for temperature monitoring. The LC709501F supports an operating temperature range of -40 °C to + 85°C.

The new best-in-class LC709501F charge controller will create a compact, energy-efficient, feature-rich mobile power supply that will simplify and accelerate the next generation of mobile power solutions to market. The breadth of its capabilities will enhance the user experience and means maintaining a high level of security."
