Marvell introduces the industry's first automotive-grade Gigabit Ethernet switch with security features

     Marvell, a leader in semiconductor solutions for storage, networking and connectivity, announced the industry's first safety-enabled automotive-grade Gigabit Ethernet switch that will deliver a new level of secure data transfer for the next generation of connected vehicles. There are hundreds of computing applications in the car that require a robust, reliable and secure in-vehicle network, making Ethernet technology the first choice for automakers.

     Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), and autonomous vehicles will all rely on internal body networks and external networks that communicate with other vehicles to transmit digital information. The new Automotion-grade Ethernet switch is the latest addition to Marvell's family of automotion-grade wired and wireless networking solutions designed to prevent malicious attacks and modifications to data transmitted in vehicles, industry-leading security features that are critical to keeping vehicles and their passengers safe.

     This highly secure Ethernet switch is specifically designed to address the increasing risk of cybercrime in the automotive industry and is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3 and 802.11 standards. The new solution uses a Deep packet inspection (DPI) engine and secure boot capabilities to ensure a higher level of security at the underlying hardware layer. The new switch also supports blacklisted and whitelisted addresses on all Ethernet ports, further improving its security. To meet the industry's exacting standards and withstand the harsh automotive environment, the new Ethernet switches are AEC-Q100 compliant. Capable of supporting 100Mbps and 1Gbps interfaces, the new product features five integrated 100BASE-T1 transceiver interfaces that can be used with Marvell's previously announced 1000BASE-T1 PHY.
