Diodes introduces devices using the channeled super barrier rectifier technology
Diodes introduces two new devices, the SBRT15U50SP5 and the SBRT20U50SLP, which use their patented Trench Super Barrier rectifier (Trench SBR) technology to meet the stringent efficiency and temperature requirements of the next generation of battery chargers.
The two new grooved super barrier rectifiers feature ultra-low forward voltage, low leakage current, and operate at a lower temperature to effectively meet the requirements of the charger output rectifier diode, making it easy to handle the shorter current pulses of the 36kHz intermittent mode charger design.
Diodes' two devices include the 15A SBRT15U50SP5 for a 10W smartphone charger, and the 20A SBRT20U50SLP for a 12.5W tablet charger. The design of such chargers is increasingly thin and small, and the efficiency and temperature requirements are strict, and the traditional Schottky diode solution is no longer compatible.
SBRT15 device at 15A current, the forward voltage is 0.47V; The SBRT20 device achieves a forward voltage of 0.5V at a current of 20A, plus an operating temperature of +90ºC to minimize on-off losses and improve charger efficiency. The SBRT15 and SBRT20 achieve low reverse leakage currents of 105mA and 100mA, respectively, at high temperatures of +125ºC, helping to minimize blocking mode losses.
The SBRT20U50SLP and SBRT15U50SP5 are the first two rectifiers in a complete family of grooved Super barrier rectifiers, offering a wide reverse voltage range from 10V to 100V, current handling capacity from 0.2A to 40A, and a variety of packaging options. Including Diodes' space-saving PowerDI123, PowerDI5 and PowerDI5060.
