Diodes gate drivers can switch power MOSFETs and IGBTs in half-bridge or full-bridge configurations

     Diodes Incorporated's new DGD21xx family includes six half-bridge gate drivers and six high/low-side 600V gate drivers that easily switch power MOSFETs and IGBTs in half-bridge or full-bridge configurations. Targeted applications include driving motors for large household appliances, industrial automation systems, and battery-powered vehicles such as electric bicycles and unmanned aircraft. The new products are also suitable for power supplies over 600W, as well as inverters for fuel cell, solar and wind power applications.

     The DGD21xx series features a floating high-side driver that can be booted up to 600V, making it suitable for high-voltage power rails common in motor drivers and power supplies. The peak current drive capability enables fast switching of MOSFETs and IGBTs for increased efficiency at high frequencies. The input logic compatibility of these devices is as low as 3.3V, further simplifying the interface design between the controller and the power switch.

     To prevent breakdown of MOSFETs or IGBTs, all devices provide delay matching capabilities, and half-bridge drivers are equipped with a preset internal dead time. Other self-protection features include Schmitt inputs that effectively prevent triggering failure states; Gate drivers that can withstand negative transients caused by high dV/dt switches, and undervoltage latches that prevent failures at low supply voltages.
