Cypress launches an upgraded iot development platform

     Cypress Semiconductor, a leader in wireless connectivity solutions for the Internet of Things, today announced the launch of an upgraded Internet of Things one-stop development platform that simplifies wireless connectivity integration for smart home applications. Wireless Internet Connectivity Solutions for Embedded Devices (WICED) Studio platform now adds iCloud remote access to Wi-Fi-connected devices that support Apple HomeKit. Developers can leverage Cypress's CYW43907 Wi-Fi MCU and the iCloud feature in the WICED SDK to create a Hub independent development platform that connects directly to Siri voice control and the Apple Home APP remotely.

Leviton, for example, uses the Cypress WICED platform to support Homekit functionality in its DecoraSmart TM line of lighting switches and dimmers.

     With the Cypress WICED development platform and the ultra-low-power CYW20719 Bluetooth /BLE MCU, developers can integrate HomeKit functionality into products such as smart lighting, leverage Siri voice control and seamlessly connect to the Apple Home APP.

     The world's most integrated and interoperable wireless SDK, WICED Studio, accommodates a variety of wireless technologies, including Cypress's world-leading Wi-Fi, Bluetooth  and combination solutions, in a single development environment with an easy-to-use application programming interface. The suite includes the most widely used, rigorously tested Wi-Fi and Bluetooth protocol stacks on the market, as well as application programming interfaces that are simplified so developers don't have to learn complex wireless technologies to use them. The SDK also supports Cypress's high-performance 802.11ac Wi-Fi solution, enabling iot devices to have faster download speeds and greater coverage through high-speed transfers, while reducing energy consumption by quickly entering deep sleep mode.

     The Cypress CYW43907 SoC integrates dual-band IEEE 802.11b /g/n Wi-Fi and an ARM® Cortex-R4 RISC processor along with 2 MB of SRAM memory to run applications and manage iot protocols. The SoC's power management unit simplifies the power topology and optimizes energy consumption. Cypress WICED SDK provides code examples, tools, and development support for CYW43907.
