A lightweight, one-handed screwdriver for operating tools

     Panasonic has entered the world of red and yellow insulated tools with the launch of the EYED11SA lithium-ion Power screwdriver. Typical red and yellow handles or housing designs have been established to make it easy to identify insulating tools and correctly choose to work on machinery or equipment that cannot be easily or completely separated from the circuit. With this lightweight, lithium-ion driven, reliably insulated screwdriver, the company has entered the insulated power tool market.

     "The screwdriver is one of the simplest yet most commonly used tools, suitable for almost every field of craft and engineering," said Kunihiko neddachi of Panasonic's Power tools division. "That's why our focus is on maximizing the comfort, safety and reliability of the insulated electric screwdriver." The phone is just 145mm long and weighs 220 grams. The tool is suitable for one-handed operation - the forward or reverse mode buttons are easy to reach, and also for switching between running the drive and manually tightening.

     The lithium-ion battery is charged via a USB-C connection, providing plenty of capacity after a 45-minute fast charge. The battery has enough power to power about 600 M3x5 metal screws. The device is equipped with an extensively tested double shell construction. The same applies to switch construction where the switch itself is protected by rubber and insulation is generated within the required distance. The drill section also features highly durable insulation and design. The tool meets IP56 safety rating requirements to prevent dust or water penetration, and its electronic control unit reliably protects against excessive or discharge effects.

     Kunihiko neddachi concludes, "Panasonic's new cordless insulated screwdriver offers a whole new convenience for everyone involved in electrical installation, mechanical maintenance, electric vehicle repair, or simply making routine home repair work easier and safer."
